Operations by Mozambican and Rwandan forces in Macomia district in recent weeks have placed pressure on Islamic State Mozambique (ISM) fighters who had been operating along the coast and in Catupa forest.
Islamic State Mozambique (ISM) was active in seven districts of Cabo Delgado province. ISM militants once again entered Mocímboa da Praia town, this time to take two of the children of Farido Selemane, the group’s military commander.
Cabo Delgado witnessed a surge in insurgent activity. Islamic State Mozambique (ISM) targeted security forces in Montepuez and Muidumbe, inflicting casualties. Insurgents also continued civilian killings in Mocímboa da Praia, Muidumbe, and Metuge districts.
