Susanna Deetlefs is a Regional Desk Coordinator for Africa and North America at ACLED. Previously, she was the research manager for the Southern and East Africa research desk. She has been part of the organization since 2019 and currently oversees the Africa and North America research desks. Susanna is an alumna of Durham University, United Kingdom, where she obtained an MSc in Conflict Prevention and Peacebuilding, and the University of Pretoria, South Africa, where she acquired an MA in Security Studies. With a career spanning over 5 years, she has directed her efforts towards specialized areas such as gendered security, peacebuilding, political violence, transnational organized crime, and research on child soldiers.
